The University of East Alumni of Caloocan City Alumni Association Inc (UECCAI), under the leadership of President Manansala, embarked on a meaningful project aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of elementary students in Caloocan City. Their journey led them to Bagong Barrio Elementary School, where they joined forces with the school’s compassionate principal, Dr. Romeo Sta. Maria Egot, to address an essential need.
The project was driven by the shared vision of UECCAI and the Department of Education (DepEd) to provide every learner with the right to a safe and healthy learning environment. In particular, the focus was on ensuring equitable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.
On May 20, 2023, a significant milestone was reached as UECCAI completed the construction of a much-needed handwashing facility at Bagong Barrio Elementary School. This facility would play a crucial role in promoting hygiene practices among students, thereby contributing to their overall well-being and creating a conducive learning environment.
In a heartfelt ceremony, the UECCAI Board, led by President Manansala, gathered at the school to officially hand over the newly built handwashing facility to Principal Dr. Egot. This gesture symbolized the commitment of UECCAI to support education and enhance the quality of life for the students at Bagong Barrio Elementary School.
The completion of this project serves as a testament to the power of collaboration between educational institutions and their communities. UECCAI’s dedication to making a difference in the lives of young learners is a shining example of how a simple yet essential facility can have a profound impact on education and the well-being of students.
